“A sporting and community hub where people feel safe, included and never want to leave.”
The South Colac Football Netball Club, proudly known as the Kangaroos, is one of the most iconic clubs in the Colac & District Football Netball League (CDFNL). Located at the Elliminyt Recreation Reserve in the fast-growing suburb of Elliminyt, the club is renowned for its strong community values, successful sporting history, and family-first culture.
Although formally established as South Colac Sports Club in 1951, the club’s origins date back to the early 1900s, when it was known as the Elliminyt Football Club. Since then, South Colac has evolved into a leading sporting institution that has fostered the development of generations of footballers and netballers.
With over 70 years of continuous competition, South Colac has remained a cornerstone of local sport and a proud representative of the Colac community.
South Colac has maintained a competitive and respected football program across all grades. The club has enjoyed outstanding success across senior, reserves, and junior levels.
These achievements reflect the club’s consistent investment in junior development and its ability to build from the ground up.
Since the inclusion of netball in the CDFNL in 1972, South Colac has built one of the strongest netball programs in the region. The club is highly regarded for its competitiveness across all netball grades, and many players have progressed through the full junior-to-senior pathway.
This success has established South Colac as a netball destination for aspiring young players across the district.
The club plays out of the Elliminyt Recreation Reserve, a shared community space that hosts multiple user groups and plays a critical role in supporting the sporting needs of Elliminyt’s growing population.
To meet the needs of its players and members, South Colac has developed a bold Master Plan, which includes:
These upgrades will ensure the club remains a modern, inclusive, and accessible space for future generations.
With around 300 active members and supporters, South Colac continues to thrive thanks to the tireless efforts of volunteers, players, families, and sponsors.
The club’s core strategic priorities are:
The South Colac Football Netball Club continues to honour its past while building a vibrant future—on the field, on the court, and in the hearts of the Elliminyt and Colac communities.
